Calculation of glueball spectra in supersymmetric theories via holography

Lattice simulations is so far the only available tool for the calculation of the spectrum of glueballs in pure gauge theories. In supersymmetric gauge theories, however, even the lattice approach is problematic due to the sign problem, which affects any fermionic calculation. I will discuss how estimates for the glueball spectrum can be obtained from the holographic approach (gauge/gravity correspondence) in string theory. The main framework for the calculation will be a model proposed by Klebanov and Strassler. I will review the properties of gauge theories described by this model and report on the results for the glueball spectrum
